Jonah: Navigating a Life Interrupted by Priscilla Shirer

What do we do when God interrupts our lives? Many times, like Jonah, we run! In this 7-session Bible study, Priscilla redefines interruption and shows that interruption is actually God's invitation to do something beyond our wildest dreams. When Jonah was willing to allow God to interrupt his life, the result was revival in an entire city.

Precept Upon Precept: Hebrews, Part 3

Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our Faith

Without faith it is impossible to please God. So what is faith? Where do I get it? And what does it look like lived out in my life? This study of Hebrews 11–13 will answer these questions and more, encouraging you to fix your eyes on Jesus and run with endurance to the finish line.

SaveOne: A Guide to Emotional Healing After Abortion

Find hope if you are struggling with the effects of a past abortion. Learn how to overcome anger, depression, shame, guilt, and a lack of forgiveness toward others and yourself. This 11-week, biblically-based class is held in a small group setting. Our passion is to help you restore your peace of mind and self-worth as you experience how far God’s grace truly extends. Men's Discipleship: 1 John

As men, we work hard to invest in our careers, our homes, our marriages, our families, and our hobbies. We have a lot on our shoulders. With all that, it can be challenging to take the time to invest in our personal walks with Christ. Join Pastor Chris Meade and other men, and dive into the book of 1 John, growing together as followers of Jesus, and speaking directly into the challenges, responsibilities, and blessings we face as we seek to make Jesus first in our lives. Will you commit to Thursday evenings to be challenged, encouraged, and equipped to grow in your relationship with Christ and other men?

Who: Any man, 18 or older, any place in your walk with Christ

When: Thursdays from 7-8:45 pm, starting April 5

Women's Retreat 2018

April 6th - April 8th, 2018

Could you use some good news? We live in a broken world, and sometimes the hurt and trials of our lives leave us feeling anxious and overwhelmed. The good news is that God is never-changing and always faithful. He is our solid rock, our firm foundation, and our good, good Father. Join us this year as we learn more about the character and nature of God by studying the names of God found in Scripture. As we have a clearer image of our Savior, we will also strengthen our identity in Him and be reminded of where we can place our hope!

On April 6-8 we will head to the Agate Beach Inn in Newport OR. Our guest speaker, Jenna Silva, will be walking us through the names of God and what those names tell us about His character. During this sweet weekend you can expect powerful worship and time to be still. You will be treated to beautiful views, fun free time, and lots of friends—new and old!

Registration for this retreat includes: lodging; all sessions and materials; Friday evening snack; Saturday breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack; and Sunday breakfast. (Room choice is first come, first served.)


The Early-Bird deadline is MARCH 4. Final registration deadline, no refunds after, and balances due by MARCH 18.

We recommend that each person registers themselves, you may request roommates within your own registration. If you do decide to register multiple people at the same time, it will charge you the amount of ALL the attendees and you will be responsible to pay any balance due.

Your registration WILL NOT go through without a 50% deposit. Even if you fill out the registration but do not finish the payment portion, your registration has NOT been completed and we do not have any record of it. You will receive a confirmation email once your registration has been successfully submitted.

As of March 14: please note, we are at capacity for childcare for nursing infants, no more requests for childcare can be accommodated.

Bridge 45 Retreat

April 13th - April 14th, 2018


This overnight retreat is designed just for 4th and 5th graders to dive deeper into the Bible and develop stronger bonds with their peers and church leaders. Musical worship, a dynamic guest speaker, bunking in cabins, small group time, and campground activities are all part of the fun that's planned for your child. 4 meals are included in the cost (including dinner before they head home on Saturday).

Feed Salem

April 14th, 2018

Have you ever bought groceries for a stranger? What if that gift of food opened the door to sharing about Jesus?

FEED SALEM is an annual event where churches from around Salem partner to provide the practical need of food for the body and the spiritual need of the gospel for the soul!   We would love for everyone to contribute. It’s really easy!

  1. Pick up a box and food list
  2. Fill a box with food
  3. Help deliver the food  

Boxes and food lists can be picked up at the Feed Salem table in the north lobby. Lists are also available online at mstar.church. The deadline to bring your box full of food back is Sunday, April 8! We will be delivering food boxes, praying for others, and sharing the gospel in our community at 1 pm on Saturday, April 14.

Please register for the team(s) you would like to join! If you would like to register for multiple teams, you must register for each team separately.  


This team will deliver food boxes to families at their homes on April 15. We need people with large SUVs or trucks with tarps. If you have an extra tarp, please bring it!


This team will help the delivery team distribute food boxes, ask if people need prayer, pray, and share the gospel as opportunities arise.


This team will confirm with those who are in need of a food box to ensure they will be at home to accept them on delivery day. This team will make calls prior to April 14. It can be done on the go or from home.

I Belong is an opportunity to dive deeper.  Deeper into your relationship with God. Deeper into your knowledge of Him. Deeper into connections and relationships with others. And deeper into the distinctiveness of Morning Star Community Church.

We are going to spend five Sundays together, during the 11 am service—having a lot of fun, engaging in great conversation, eating great food, and diving into this incredible journey of belonging to God, to a church, and to a community with a mission.

I Belong will be 11 am-12:30 pm in Modular C4 on Sunday, April 22, 29, May 6, 20, and 27.

Estimated Cost

$4750/person. This is based on a group of 19 with double occupancy, and includes transportation from Portland, uniquely Israeli moshav and kibbutz lodging; all breakfasts, lunches, and dinners; all transfers, entrance fees, taxes, tips, training and devotional materials.

If you need a roommate, we most likely can find one for you. A fee of $990 may be applied if you are among the last to register and we cannot provide a roommate, so register early! If you prefer single occupancy, add $990. Lodging will allow up to three people per room upon request.

Airline prices are subject to change due to new airline fuel surcharges and/or tax increases that may be changed up to the date the non-refundable airline tickets are written.

Payment Schedule [per person]

When you register: $600 first deposit by 4.8.18: $600 second deposit by 7.15.18: Full payment/copy of passport [All registrations will be processed on a space-available basis. Add 4% if paying with a credit card.]

Refunds and Penalties

If you need to cancel, you must notify Morning Star in writing. All cancellations will be charged $150 processing fee/person. Cancellations after May 8, 2018 are charged $400 penalty. Cancellations after July 15, 2018 are subject to additional airline, hotel, and tour penalties that may exceed 75% of the tour cost. Cancellations within two weeks of departure will be charged 100% penalty.

Medical and Cancellation Insurance

Your final payment will include foreign accidental medical and sickness coverage up to $50,000, medical evacuation coverage, and foreign liability coverage from Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company. The foreign accidental medical and sickness coverage does not cover pre-existing conditions or cancellation insurance. We strongly recommend you purchase cancellation insurance coverage, which may be done on your own or through Brotherhood Mutual.
